Yard sale finds!!

Finally the Saturday I spent yard sailing arrived! I woke up extra early and got a head start, even snagging up some pretty great scores at the first two I stopped at. Eventually my luck seemed to dwindle out, but I'm still incredibly happy about what I found. From left to right : Star Trek Borg action figure, red and blue Mickey Mouse cabinets, readers digest : gone with the wind, canon camera, magnets and buttons, various colored scarves, Disney cups, yellow retro mushroom light, magazines, and a beautiful crocheted blanket. 

Instamemories.

October is gone, as you can see it took me a while to admit it. I love October, it's sad to see it go. However,  November is here and with that a new segment I will be doing every month, I will upload some Instagram photos that highlight the month. What you love.

I've taken many deep breaths over the past few days. The Wall is a very hard thing to conquer. I decided to take some time to just relax (something i don't think I've done since our Disney vacation). So after several walks around the neighborhood, and the destruction of several home decorating magazines, the Wall has just barely been knocked down.

Enter. The happiest place on Earth

The day has finally come!! We are going to Disney! Our day started early, waking up at 4am, with plans to leave by 5. Our journey to the happiest place on Earth would take about 6 1/2 hours.  The drive was long, but the moment I saw the sign it was a sigh of relief. That everything I have been doing for the past few months was finally here and I could finally enjoy the rewards! I really don't even know how to sum everything up because it was so overwhelming. All the shops, with all the merchandise, with all the characters (and we weren't even at a park!) Downtown Disney is amazing and i can't wait to go back every night (if we have time).

It's a Doll World.

After finding Novi Stars a few months ago and reading forum after forum, I started noticing Monster High dolls for the first time. I've seen them in stores for a long time now but haven't payed much attention to them. Since looking at countless blogs and pictures, I started watching the webisodes and fell in love with the characters. I finally looked through the isles of Target and Walmart for these unique dolls. From the show Draculaura is hands down my favorite, the fact that she's a vegetarian/vegan (no site can really tell me which one) really related to me. The other characters are just as great and since I had so much fun shooting my Novi Stars, I figured I could get great shots of the Monster High dolls! I have an almost endless list of all the dolls I want to be able to grow my collection of doll photography.

Rave Life.

January 2011 I attended my first rave, Bubblegum Parade. Since then I've attended my fair share of shows, taking hundreds at each one. I have compiled a group of my favorites, I tend to have better luck with light trails and single person shots (all of the ones below) but I'll keep looking for big group or circle shots.  I hope you enjoy and see into our little world.

Places Unknown

While driving on our way to Aiken, Mack and I stopped at this abandoned building on the side of the road. Slightly tucked away, We always have a way of finding these places. We weren't (and still aren't) sure of what this place was, I hoped I captured a little of what it is now. 

Trouble Makers.

Yet again I have rescued more stray cats. This time there are less, but still too cute to resist. I have yet to name them (and probably wont for attachment reasons). As you can see they are not as innocent as they seem! 

Novi Stars

If you don't know me, you should know I am a pretty big kid (even though I'm only 19, but still). I love toys and Barbie dolls and have recently gotten a lot of my inspiration from them. No more so than from my favorite new toy... Novi Stars! They are these super cool girls from outer space who have come to earth to bring us new fashion trends (and that they have already done. I am currently working on an outfit inspired by Alie Lectric). The set consists of 4 dolls (not including Nita Light, which comes with her own "Energy Pod Playset.") Every girl has a unique talent. Alie Lectric lights up, Ari Roma is scented, Una Verse is filled with water and glitter, and Mae Tallick talks! I can't wait to collect them all and would encourage anyone to get them!

Phinizy Swamp

Phinizy Swamp is a hidden gem in Augusta, Ga. Located in South Augusta close to Bush Field. This was Macks first time there and he felt it was a beautiful sight uncharacteristic of our city. You can be so close to the city and yet in such a peaceful and quiet surrounding.

School is out. Forever.

When new schools are built old ones are simply thrown away. So is the case with Sue Reynolds Elementary. Upon entering the grounds overrun with grass and graffiti. Archaic desks, tables and chairs fill the halls where children once learned and though the brand new school is less than a mile down the road, I find this piece of history way more interesting. 

Stray.

If you don't know me, I am a sucker for cats, and no matter where I can't seem to escape them. Mack and I went out to Graniteville to see if we could enter the abandoned mills. Upon searching for an entrance I noticed a cat manning the security booth. Once stopped they all seemed to appear and disappear. The time there was short because of the storm clouds ahead. What saddened me most was the possibility of the only food they could have gotten in days had been ruined by rain. An unorthodox addition to my camera bag is now a can of cat food. 

Caution! Will Melt Heart.

My sister recently rescued a kitten she found at her apartment complex. She was severely injured, but the vet had said she would be fine within a few weeks. Which means, New kitten!!! She has won over all of our hearts with her preciousness. So, I proudly present... Bonnie.

A Day at the Garden.

As I posted in http://theohsoblog.blogspot.com/2012/07/places-forgotten.html , I have the biggest fascination with places that people have seemed to forget about. Today I was lucky to go back to a place I visited a few years ago and snap some much needed, better shots. Here are a few of my favorites. 

A story about Toys!

Yard sales are my favorite, I often don't have the time or motivation to wake up early on Saturdays to actually accomplish them. However this Saturday I made it work (and boy did I hit the jackpot!) I found three boxes of toys and was excited to see characters from my favorite movie Toy Story! At first i just picked out some here and there, but the man said I could have all 3 boxes for $5. I couldn't say no! I've been having so much fun playing with these toys, its truly brought out my inner child.

Places forgotten

I love taking photos of abandoned places, recently I stumbled across an old mini-golf course. I always find it so beautiful that a place that once created such happiness could just stop all of a sudden. I was also able to get inside due to a broken door, but there wasn't much there. I hope to find more places like this and share them with you.
